As the Founder and CEO of NorTech Innovations & Solutions, Austin Zhao is dedicated to making technology approachable, reliable, and a source of empowerment. His journey in IT began in 2019, growing from a keen interest into a dedicated career focused on simplifying tech’s trickiest challenges.
By 2025, Austin officially launched NorTech to provide the Toronto community and beyond with affordable, custom-fit, and dependable IT solutions. His background bridges the gap between technical mastery and human-centric design.
Expertise & Technical Philosophy
Austin’s expertise covers the full spectrum of modern technology. Whether navigating a residential tech glitch or architecting enterprise-level IT services, his approach is rooted in digital resilience.
He is professionally trained through the CompTIA curriculum, ensuring his hands-on skills in network infrastructure and cybersecurity meet the highest industry standards. Drawing on his background in Communication and Media Studies, combined with his talent for media production and web optimization, Austin helps clients build a digital presence that is both technically robust and visually compelling.
Academic Background & Research
Austin’s “Researcher” mindset is backed by a strong academic foundation. He graduated with Dean’s Honour Roll distinction from York University in 2024, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Communication & Media Studies.
His studies were a deep dive into the intersection of technology and society, exploring critical areas like Artificial Intelligence, surveillance, privacy, and policy-making. This academic rigor, recognized by the York University Continuing Student Scholarship, allows him to solve the root causes of technical issues rather than just treating the symptoms.
Creative Contributions
Beyond the world of IT, Austin is an accomplished photographer—a testament to his strategic and innovative eye. In 2025, he was honoured as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) for his notable contributions to the visual arts.
